Meet Naomi Kavka

Licensed Social Worker

Naomi Kavka discovered her passion for working as a child therapist and teacher in a Montessori Preschool. Witnessing the challenges her students faced with childhood disorders and recognizing their potential long-term impact on adulthood, she felt compelled to make a more practical and lasting difference in their lives. This realization led Naomi to embark on a career in social work.

A graduate of Brooklyn College, Naomi earned her BA in psychology with honors. She further honed her expertise by completing a master’s in social work at the Silberman School of Social Work. Now a licensed social worker in Connecticut, Naomi brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to her practice.

Naomi’s dedication is reflected in her focus on working with children and adolescents and supporting parents. Employing evidence-based practices, she offers individual psychotherapy to clients across the lifespan, addressing a broad spectrum of disorders. Her therapeutic approach involves viewing behavior as a mask for trauma and delving into deeper cognitive and psychological processes. By uncovering the root causes of thoughts and behaviors, Naomi helps her clients cultivate introspection and mindfulness, fostering healthier habits and enhancing attachment styles.

Taking a holistic and multidisciplinary approach, Naomi tailors her interventions to meet her client’s needs, utilizing modalities such as play therapy, CBT, DBT, and other forms of psychotherapy that resonate with them. Her warm and non-judgmental demeanor creates a comfortable space for therapeutic connection, allowing clients to feel supported and empowered.

Naomi believes that the goal for her clients’ time in therapy is not to change them but to collaborate with them in highlighting and reinforcing their strengths. Through this collaborative process, clients experience a sense of support and empowerment, enabling them to work towards their goals with confidence and resilience.

Take the GPG Symptom Checker

At Greenwich Psychology Group, our symptom checker helps clients track their symptoms of depression or anxiety. Taking the assessment doesn't provide a formal diagnosis, but it can help you determine what next steps you may need to take. The evaluation uses a series of questions to review the feelings and symptoms you've experienced over the past two weeks. The results will help you distinguish if professional help is the best next step.
